I am trying to insert a document into an open document. The document I am
trying to insert has a footer but when I insert it, the footer disappears.
Please help. I apologise if you have already received my query but I
received an error message so I am sure whether it reached the community or
not.

That's how it works. You will need to add a section break before your
inserted text (and at the end if more text follows) add the footer to that
section.
