Word 2007 -Margin issues
While opening existing doc in Word 2007, the margins change and what was
supposed to be in one page, is now in two. This supposed to be one page doc is reviewed and faxed directly. I work with many docs so to open each one and make adjustments individually, will not happen. Have tried changing the default margins but every document that is opened assumes the wrong margins and doesn't pick up the new default. Ah! It works perfectly in Word 2003.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!! |

Hi ?B?UEE=?=,

Were these documents created in Word 2007 or an earlier version? Can you give the exact amounts the margins are being changed? A document is stored with its margins, changing the default somewhere will not affect existing documents. If you're really creating new documents, rather than opening them, you need to make the change in the document template(s). Changing the default for the Word application only changes the setting for the default template, Normal.dot. Word 2007 -Margin issues
Hello Cindy and thanks for your reply.
These docs are generated in an in-house system (invoice docs) and sent automatically to email. When opened in Word 2003 the margins a Top & Bottom: 1" and Left & Right: 0.92". When they're opend in Word 2007, the margins a Top & Bottom: 1" and Left & Right: 1.04". And I have changed the template, but like you said, it affects new documents only. So, from what you are saying, once the doc is created and saved, it keeps its margins and the only way to change it would be to actually going into each doc and re-saving it with new margins, correct? That is correct. Conceivably, you could put an AutoOpen macro into the template that checks the margins and, if necessary, corrects them. You should be able to record the basic code you need in a macro. (Open a document with the problem, start the macro recorder, correct the margins, stop the recorder.) Name the macro AutoOpen and save it in a VBA project in the template.
