Default Word 2000 opens and prepopulates with previous document, not blank

When program opens, it immediately displays a document I viewed many months
ago, its no longer saved on my computer or even our server, yet every time I
open word it is displayed. I will obviously delete all text and crate my new
document. But when I go to save it, the File Name prepopulates with the name
of that old file.
How do I stop this from showing up, and return to Word defaulting to opening
a blank document
