Default asking me to save when I've changed nothing!

Even if I just open a document and do nothing to it, Word 2002 keeps
asking if I want to save it when I go to close it.

It never used to do that before.

No Word Perfect options are checked in Tools/General.

How can I stop Word 2002 from asking if I want to save a document to
which I've made no changes?

Do you have any fields that are automatically updated, like date fields, table
of contents, etc?

They can change.

See the following article:

You are prompted to save changes when you close a Word 2002 document
even though you have made no changes
