Problem Inserting Picture Into Word Document.....
Hello!! In a couple word documents I'm working on, I've inserted small
pictures which are stored elsewhere on my computer. When I open the document, the pic is not "there", I guess the program gets it from where it is stored, and then it appears on the document. That's fine - but my problem is in sending these to others via email (Outlook Express), I attach the Word document to the email and send, but the picture is not sent. My problem & question: Is there a way to make the picture a permanent part of the Word document, so that when I email the document the picture will go also??? Thanks & Best Regards................................. TOM |

How are you inserting the picture(s) into your Word documents? (and what
version of Word is this) When I choose Insert - Picture - From File, and select a file, there are three Insert options: Insert, Link to File, and Insert and Link. If I Insert the picture, then it's there in the document, rather than as a link, and it gets sent in the document when I attach that document as an email. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "Tom Massfeller" wrote in message ... Select the picture and then use Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink the picture from its
source. -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "Tom Massfeller" wrote in message ... Guys, thanks for your responses... I should've started with,
My computer has Windows XP, my MS Word is 2003 (11.6502.6408), SP1, part of Office 2003. When in a Word Document, I click on "Insert", get choices "Picture" or "Text Box", click on "Picture", get choices "From File" or "Wordart", (both of these have more choices available but I think I'm picking the right ones...) (Although the Picture I'm using is stored in a folder in my "My Documents" file, not "My Pictures"). It opens "My Pictures", I change the "Look in" from "My Pictures" to "My Documents", go to the sub-folder and click on the Pic I want, and the program attaches it Herb I don't see options of "Insert, Link to File, or insert and Link". And Doug, I tried clicking on - selecting - the pic, pressing Control+Shift+F9, even Control+S to save, but when I close and open the picture again it still takes a second for the picture to appear, which tells me the pic is not unlinked. I would appreciate any other advice................... Best Regards.............. TOM |

In the Insert Picture dialog box, select a picture, and look at the Insert
button in the lower right hand corner. It should have a drop-down arrow at the right side. Click that arrow rather than the button itself. That's where you'll see the three options I indicated. It *should* be defaulting to just plain Insert, but I'm guessing that on your computer, it's not for some reason. Another way to tell that it's a link rather than the actual picture... if you press Alt+F9, that will toggle field codes off/on. If it's link, it will change to an {INCLUDEPICTURE filename } field code. If it's just an inserted picture, pressing Alt+F9 won't affect its display. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "Tom Massfeller" wrote in message ... Herb, think I got it!!!
I opened a new Word doc, inserted one pic as a link and one as an insert; & I could see how Alt+F9 changed one. Actually, I tried Doug's suggestion of Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink, but couldn't tell if anything happened...maybe it takes a while longer for a pic to appear than text anyway. Now when I go back to my docs and try Alt+F9, nothing happens, so I assume the pics are unlinked and inserted. Thanks again............................. TOM |
