Answer: vector arrow above symbol in text
Hi Rob,
Yes, you can definitely represent vectors in text with a vector arrow above the symbol. Here's how you can do it in Microsoft Word:
- Type the symbol for the vector you want to represent (e.g. "v").
- Highlight the symbol.
- Go to the "Insert" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
- Click on "Equation" in the "Symbols" section.
- In the "Equation Tools" tab that appears, click on "Accent" in the "Structures" section.
- Choose the "Vector" accent from the drop-down menu.
- The vector arrow should now appear above the symbol.
If you want to use this symbol repeatedly, you can save it as an AutoCorrect entry. Here's how:
- Highlight the symbol with the vector arrow above it.
- Go to the "File" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
- Click on "Options" at the bottom of the left-hand menu.
- In the "Word Options" dialog box that appears, click on "Proofing" in the left-hand menu.
- Click on "AutoCorrect Options" in the "Proofing" section.
- In the "AutoCorrect" dialog box that appears, type a shortcut for the symbol (e.g. "vecv").
- Click "Add" and then "OK".
- Now, whenever you type the shortcut you created (e.g. "vecv"), the symbol with the vector arrow above it will appear.
