Default When I left click on MS Word doc from task bar all docs closed

I have been experiencing a problem with MS Word where if I have a number of
cocuments open and diminished to the task bar,to restore a document to the
work area 'left click' displays all diminished documents. To select and
restore a particular document from this list it is necessary to 'right click
(a)'. An auto reaction - mine - is to 'left click' and this then closes all
documents and shuts down MS Word. They can only be reopened by restarting MS
Word and consequently each document file along with the auto saved docs from
the recovery pane. There is also an option to save changes to the
normal.doc(T?).
Very annoying and time consuming. Have I changed a setting that this occurs?
Can 'right click (a)' be changed to 'left click'
Appreciate any assistance.
