Somehow, my document reverted to a "documents and settings" mode. How do I
turn it off and get back to my regular document?

Not sure what you mean by "documents and settings" mode, but if you mean
that field codes are displayed, use Alt+F9 to toggle them of. If you mean
that there is a dot between each word and each paragraph ends in a ¶, then
click on the button with a ¶ (Show/Hide).

If neither of those are what you need, please post back with more
information on what you mean by "documents and settings".
