I am trying to convert a number of old works documents into word... so far
all I have been doing is opening them one by one and saving them one at a
time...there has to be an easier way to do this... can anyone help me?

Assuming they are all created with the same version of Works, use the batch
converter wizard that comes with Word but is not installed by default.
Why not simply convert them on an ad hoc basis as and when you need to refer
to them?
