Default how do I unlock 2003 word documents? Printed answer no help

I am unable to write in existing and NEW word documents. I previously had
access but now nothing. I am sure it's "opperator error" but have no clue
what I did. Microsoft assistance and help solutions don't work cuz menu
items are greyed out. Can someone give me instructions on how to unlock my
stuff? I journal on my computer so to be without access is DEVISTATING.

Thank you, who ever you are!

Have you activated the software or are you using the trial version and it
has passed it use-by date?
