I have inadverntly done something and now when I click on Envelopes/Labels
and choose New Document, a blank page appears. A page would open up and you
could see the exactly layout of each label. How can I change the setting to
get it back?

From the Tables menu, select Show Gridlines. Labels in Word are just tables
with fixed cell dimensions.
