Ctrl+E will center a paragraph, but if you are not seeing the alignment
buttons on your Formatting toolbar, it may be because you have "adaptive
menus" (which includes toolbars) enabled. To correct this, open Tools |
Customize and select the Options tab. Depending on version:

1. In Word 2000, clear the check boxes for "Menus show recently used items
first" and "Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row."

2. In Word 2002 and 2003, check the check boxes for "Always show full menus"
and "Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows."
