Default Date + x number of days?????

Is it possible to create a field in word so that you can have the current
days date plus x number of days which updates automatically on the opening of
a document. I need this feature to put into a letter, currently the letter
is in excel but because of the lack of formating capabilities of excel (i.e.
no justify) it looks messy. I have tried to by inserting through an excel
spreadsheet object which works ok but you have to double click on the field
to update it. As this letter will be used by various people I want it to be
as easy as possible as the date is an important deadline and if they forget
to update it.........!
Hope someone can help

This is more complex than you might imagine, but it can be done. See
http://addbalance.com/word/datefields2.htm for information on the different
kinds of ways to make a date calculation work. It includes links to pages
with fields and an explanation of different macros that can be used instead
of fields.
