Revision Number Field Code
Hello,
I understand how to put the revnum field code into my Word 2003 document, but how do I get it to update automatically (provided it is a new version, of course) when the document is first opened? Right now I have to F9 the field in order for it to update. I would prefer not to do that since this is a shard document. Thank you in advance. MAB |

Revision Number Field Code
If you used Word 2000, the default behavior was to update fields when
opening a document. If the document contained 1 field or 1,000 fields, it would update. And, for some large documents, this meant you couldn't begin to work until the update was done. MS changed this behavior beginning in Word 2002 (and it's in Word 2003, as well). Now, updating is no longer automatic. Instead, you need to update manually, or use a macro to update. The following article isn't much consolation, but it can tell you how to create the macro: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=832897 -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along.
