Default Slow file loading speed

I have used Word 2003 for several years and have to wait longer now for files
to load when I click on them. (I have 1 GB of RAM and a 2GHZ processor on my
laptop and it takes 11 seconds from the moment I click on a 25KB Microsoft
Word Document until it displays on screen.) Is this slowing to be expected,
or is there something that I can do to get a more immediate reaction?

Try clearing down you \Local Settings\Temp folder.
If you can't see the folder, in Tools\Folder options on the view tab ensure
the "Show hidden files and folders" in checked.

If that doesn't help, close Word, use windows explorer to locate your
normal.dot file, and rename it to normal.old.
Restart word, and try again.

Hope this helps.
