Default Copying styles from template doesn't retain style characteristics

I'm using Word 2007 on XP. I created a template that has outline numbering
applied to a number of styles. When I use the Organizer to copy those styles
from the template to a document, the numbering doesn't come across. Have I
got a flag set that doesn't permit this? Or is there some other explanation?

You guys are the best, thanks in advance.
