Try a table--1 column by 2 rows. Adjust the cell width and height as needed.
If it is a landscape page, use table with 1 row and 2 columns.

ignore the post about tables - it will get you into all sorts of trouble.
Just click the "Columns" icon on the standard toolbar, and select two
columns. That will do what you need simply and quickly.

The possibility of problems using tables does exist. But using two columns
will not help if you want to place one image above the other. I suppose you
could use a landscape page with two colums and rotate your pictures 90%.

An alternate solution would be to paste your first image in "In Line with
text" and a second copy "In front of text" and position the second copy
accordingly.

True. of course the OP didn't actually specify whether he wanted the images
one on top of the other or side by side!

Default divide a page in two

It depends to some extent on the version of Word you have. If you have Word
2000 or above, use the "2 pages per sheet" option in the Page Setup dialog
(*not* the one in the Print dialog). This gives you two logical pages per
sheet; you can treat each one as an individual page, with page borders, page
numbers, etc., if needed. This is the most flexible option, especially since
it allows you to divide the page horizontally or vertically.

If you have Word 97 or earlier, or if you want more than two sections,
you'll need to use columns or a table. As has been pointed out elsewhere,
only a table is really satisfactory for evenly dividing a page vertically,
but it you want to divide it horizontally, columns are more flexible because
you can put anything (including tables, graphics, and the like) in the
column.

If you are planning to cut the page in half, you need to set the space
between columns equal to the sum of the left and right margins so that the
column content will be centered on half the page. If you use a table, the
easiest way to achieve the horizontal or vertical centering on half the page
is to add a spacer column or row with width set to the sum of the left and
right margins. Or you can set margins to 0" and use cell margins instead
(but Word will complain that you're outside the printable area).

Thumbs up Answer: divide a page in two

Sure, I can help you with that! Here's how you can divide a letter size page into two sections in Microsoft Word:
  1. Open a new or existing document in Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on the "Page Layout" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Columns" drop-down menu and select "Two" under the "Presets" section. This will divide your page into two equal sections.
  4. If you want to add a line between the two sections, click on the "Columns" drop-down menu again and select "More Columns" at the bottom of the menu.
  5. In the "Columns" dialog box, select the "Line between" checkbox under the "Presets" section and click "OK". This will add a line between the two sections.

Now you can insert your image into one section and it will automatically be repeated in the other section. You can also add text or other elements to each section separately.
