Default Formatting a Document

Hi

Does anyone know of any good exercises / methods for formatting a document.
E.g. stripping it back to zero formatting and then applying styles and using
outline view?

At work, people still use tables instead of tabs, they dont use styles and
try to manipulate huge word documents with difficulty - I am trying to help
them with this task without making more work for themselves

I hope this makes sense?

Thanks x

Personally, I usually copy the entire document and paste it into Notepad and
then copy it from there and paste it into a new Word document. Then I can
apply whatever formatting I like.

Sarah,
To remove all formatting I sometimes use CTRL+Shift+N, which resets the
selected text to the normal style. Just my two cents.

With just one click the contents of the clipboard can be cleared of all
formatting. Steve's handy program just sits on the startup menu waiting to
be clicked.. http://stevemiller.net/puretext/

Carol and Luc have given you good suggestions. I usually apply Body Text (or
whatever other style I will be primarily using) rather than Normal as a
starting point, but after doing this I do paste into a new document. I'm
curious, though, about your statement that they use tables instead of tabs.
There are many situations where tables are much more appropriate (and
versatile) than tabs; see
