I tried selecting a numbered style, with the same result when more than one
line is pasted into the field, as follows:

abc
def
1. ghi

I did succeed, since my original post, in creating a macro that numbered the
pasted lines after leaving he field; however, it only worked for me and not
two users who tried it.
