Word and the Insert Date Created Field
I have a footer in my document that includes a date created field that I
insert by going to the menu bar and clicking on Field and then the Date and Time Field and then the CreateDate field. This date is not showing up in my document footer; rather a date a month earlier than today is displayed. Hwoever when I look at the document properties, the correct date that the document was created is displayed as is the case when I look at the file in Windows Explorer. What is the problem and is there a fix for it? Thanks in advance -- Rachel Rifkind |

Word and the Insert Date Created Field
It depends on how your document was created. For now, simply overtype the
field with the correct information. The CreateDate field works very well if inserted in a template that is used as the basis for new documents (using File New, not Save As). Word and the Insert Date Created Field
It was created using a template -- I know that I can overwrite it -- but why
is there a disconnect between the properties and Windows Explorer and the actual document with the field? -- Rachel Rifkind "Charles Kenyon" wrote: It depends on how your document was created. Word and the Insert Date Created Field
I don't know why. I just know that there are different creation date
properties that are used by different parts of Windows and Word and they don't necessarily reflect the same date. If the document was created from a template that had the CreateDate field in it, then that date should reflect the date of creation. (If you use SaveAs on a document created this way at a later date, it will update the CreateDate field to the new save date, even if you save using the same name.) -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
