Can't turn off automatic inserts, have used help and it doesn't
I am typing an invoice in word. I need to put a new date at the beginning of
each line, and word is helpfully adding a copy of the date from the line above instead. I have followed the instructions on the help file, and I have deleted everything in the autocorrect menues.I have saved and closed the document, and I am getting so frustrated. I just want the program straight - no autocorrect, no doing ANYTHING I don't tell it to do. How do I do that??? |

On the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect, make sure that you
have cleared the check boxes for automatic numbered lists and "Format beginning of list item like the one before it." Also, when Word tries to "help," Ctrl+Z (Undo) will usually reverse the auto correction/format. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TameAutoFormat.htm -- Suzanne S.
