Keyboard shortcuts to change heading styles
Having gotten used to and enjoying Outline View, I've now developed a new
annoyance: having to move the cursor with teh mouse, up to change the style from Normal to Heading 1, then Heading 2, etc. Now to get to Normal style, I just press Ctrl+Shft+N; I don't know if I set up a macro for that or if that's the default shortcut for it. But I would like to set up keyboard shortcuts for Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3. Are there any? Or do I have to set up macros and then keyboard shortcuts for them as well? -- Paul MS Office Pro 2003 XP Home Dell Inspiron 1501 |

Try Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, and Ctrl+Alt+3. Also, you can assign or change shortcuts for any style -- see http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Custom...roToHotkey.htm. In the Customize dialog, the Styles category is near the bottom of the left-hand list. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Great. That did it. Ctrl+Alt+1, etc.
As often as I use these, I hate to take my hands off the keyboard to find the mouse, then take the cursor up to the style menu, etc. -- Paul MS Office Pro 2003 XP Home Dell Inspiron 1501 "Jay Freedman" wrote: Try Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, and Ctrl+Alt+3. You might find Alt+Shift+Left/Right/Up/Down to be useful, too, particularly
when you're not in Outlining view. Experiment with them to see what they do! (Alt+Shift+Up/Down also work in tables. A+S+Up moves the current row up, and A+S+Down moves it down. It makes for rather handy table manipulation.) -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Paul" wrote in message ...
