I still can't get the number 1 to appear in the footer on page 4. I've
already tried putting the sections in & going to the footer & changing the
format to number 1 in the start box in Section 2, but it keeps giving me the
number 4. I've even tried to link and unlink to the previous section, but
then I get numbers on pages 1,2 & 3 which I don't want. It just doesn't
work. Please help me. I've been working on this since yesterday (12/22/05)
and I've got to get this document out asap.

Have you read http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...ontMatter.htm?
Note that you must unlink the footer in Section 2 from the footer in Section
1 if you want to omit page numbers in Section 1.

Add the section break on page 4 and click in that section

Menu - Insert - Page Numbers, click the format button, change the radio
button at the bottom of the dialog box to Start at 1
