A problem with Autocorrect in Word 2007
Hi,
in Autocorrect I've created 2 entires: 1. replace "." (dot) with ". " (dot with a space) 2. replace "qwe" with "some text" And now, when I type qwe - Word replaces it with some text. It is OK. BUT: when I type qwe. (the "qwe" and the . - dot) it DOES NOT replace it with some text. ("some text" and dot mark). In Word 97 it worked well, so where is the problem? |

A workaround is to also create an AutoCorrect entry that replaces "qwe." with
"some text. " I guess. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "tomaju" wrote: Hi, in Autocorrect I've created 2 entires: 1. replace "." (dot) with ". Because in my Autocorrect database I've got dozens of entires ("shortcuts") such as replace "a" with "first text", replace "b" with "second text" etc. And, any of those entires may be placed at the end of sentence - so when I type a dot mark after them, I'd like to Word replace both: a "shortcut" and a dot mark. According to your suggestion, I'd have to manually add to Autocorrect database an extra record to ALL entires with a dot mark included. Lot of work... But the question is: why the problem we're talking (writing) about didn't occured in Word 97??? Thanks in advance for any help. :-) Best regards. |

A problem with Autocorrect in Word 2007
A good portion of Microsoft Office was rewritten starting with Office 2000 to have features be more language centric. If you delete the entry for ... that is already in Autocorrect (Alt, T, A) then in your document type the dot space combination you want, select it and return to the Autocorrect dialog (Alt, T, A) and choose 'formatted' rather than 'plain' text and type in your dot as the item to be replaced then typing the dot should work after that to change a dot to a dot space, although that result could also produce some strange results in documents If you don't want Word's grammar check then changing or suggesting how many spaces to have at the end of a sentence then when you have selected the dot+space in your document you are going to use to create your AUtocorrect shortcut, before using Alt, T, A use Review=Proofing=Set Language and turn on the 'Do not check spelling or grammar' for that entry. ============= "tomaju" wrote in message ... A problem with Autocorrect in Word 2007
I must have missed something in this thread, but I don't understand why
typing an AutoCorrect entry followed by a period (dot, full stop) *or any other punctuation* would not result in the AutoCorrect replacement text followed by the given punctuation mark. The default behavior of AutoCorrect is to fire on typing a space or punctuation mark following the entry "name," and the punctuation mark should not be affected. What am I missing here? -- Suzanne S. A problem with Autocorrect in Word 2007
Hi Suzanne,
The entry 'name' he wanted was to have a separate entry of just just a . which when typed was to be replaced by .space If he typed his autotext entry and a dot he didn't get the combined result of adding a space after the dot trigger. ===================== "Suzanne S. Okay. Can't see why anyone would want want to go to that much trouble to get
a space after a period, though. -- Suzanne S.
