Default how to allow merged data to expand row in table

i have a table with a few rows. i have a merged field in one of the rows
where i get data from a database. im not sure how much data their is but i
would like for the row to expand depending on how much data is in that merged
field

On the Row tab of the Table Properties dialog, make sure the row height is
not set to an Exact amount.
