Default Linking Word documents

I have a book on word 2007, orgin. written in MS 2003. The way to open the
book is to open this master document. On the master document there are a
bunch of links to other word documents. I have to go to view and click on
outline then click on open all subdocuments. Then it opens all of the
documents in the order that the links are placed onto this one doc.. I have
to add some more chapters to this book. I don't know how to add links to
other word documents and don't really know how the master document works. I
would be very greatful if someone could help me. I don't really know much
about word.
