Default Word 97/2002

Is there any reason why a form (with lots of columns), created in Word 97,
overruns the righthand margin by about ½" when opened in Word 2002? In 97,
the form displays correctly, i.e. between the margins.

There were a lot of changes between Word 97and Word 2000 in the way tables
are handled. Word 2000 and above treat Word tables more like HTML tables,
and this can cause problems. If you look at Tools | Options | Compatibility,
you'll see a lot of options dealing with tables. It's possible that one of
these could have an effect (for example, there is one specifically to allow
tables to exceed the margins). But check Table Properties to see how the
width of the table is set; if it is an exact setting, either in width or
percentage, then changing it back to unspecified (auto) may solve the
problem.
