Default In Word - adding extra pages when creating a template

Hello,

I would love someone to help me.

I need to create a Word template that has page 1 set up with an image, then
if the user types onto a second page (or third or forth etc) automatically
adds the new page(s) with a different image on it.

At the moment the second page (and extra pages) automatically are added in
blank.

Please help!

Many thanks,

Ken

Hi Ken,

In the template, go to File Page Setup, on the Layout tab, and check
"Different first page". This makes different headers (and footers), one for
the first page only, and another for all the other pages.

Temporarily insert a manual page break (Ctrl+Enter) so the template has two
pages. With the cursor on the second page, open the header. While the cursor
is in the header, insert the image you want for pages 2 and beyond. On the
Picture toolbar, click the Text Wrapping button and click any choice except
"In line with text", then reposition and resize the image as needed -- it
can go anywhere on the page. Close the header, delete the temporary page
break, and save the template.

I assume the first-page image is in the document body and not anchored in
the header. If you want, you can move it into the first-page header, but
that isn't necessary.

For more info, see http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/Letterhead.htm.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you want, but if you set up the page
layout as 'different first page' you'll be able to have one image linked to
the first page header and another to the following page headers. If you set
this up in the template (with two pages showing) and then delete the second
page, the image will appear again when a document created from the template
flows onto the second page.
