Default When did selective document protection come in?

Hi

I have a client who wants to allow users to edit selected areas of a
document only.

I know this is possible in Word 2003, but she has Word XP.... is this
feature new with 2003, or was it there in XP? (Incidentally, I know
this can be done with a form, but we're looking to do it with
Protection so that Passwords & user level restriction can be applied.)

Thanks for your help

Andrew

The IRM feature was introduced in Word 2003 (and is not available in all
versions, either).
