Cannot get rid of watermark
I set a text watermark in a document but subsequently decided that I didn't
want it. I therefore removed it - and it went away as expected. All ok so far. I then inserted the document at the end of another document - and the watermark re-appeared. When I look at 'background / watermark', it thinks that there isn't one there. Even if I toggle round the radio buttons to turn it on and then off again, the original watermark remains in the document. HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT ONCE AND FOR ALL????? |

View | Header and Footer. Select the watermark and press Delete.

I had the same problem. Even though I had no watermark selected it was still
there, but, only on some pages. I thought I had finally cleared it when Icreated a new document and copied the text it went away. Then I copied a header from the old document and it was back. I read in an April 15 reponse it might be in the header, so I selected the header, then went back to the back to the format/printed background an made sure it it had no watermark. I got back into the header and it was still on the page. I accidently double clicked in the header and WordArt appeard with the DRAFT in the text. I replaced it with a blank space and the draft went away. In hind sight I should have deleted the header an seen if it would have gone. So if you have a header or footer, you might try deleting it to see if that get's rid of it. Watermarks are always anchored to the header paragraph, whether you create
them manually or using the Format | Background | Printed Watermark dialog in Word 2002/2003. When you insert section breaks after adding a watermark, then remove the watermark, it may be removed from only one section. It's usually easier to remove it manually (using View | Header and Footer, then selecting and deleting the watermark) than to try to cycle through the sections with the Format | Background command. -- Suzanne S.
