You can put the filename and path in the footer (there's an AutoText entry
for this, accessible from the menu on the Header and Footer toolbar), but
you really, really don't want to do this in Normal.dot; do it in a document
template.

Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for the reply. I think I was not clear in my
question. Whenever I create any new document in word
2003, I want the Filepath(full physical path - like C:\My
Documents\First.doc) to appear on the footer of each
document. So for second.doc it would be C:\My
Documents\Second.doc.

I want this appear automatically/with a single click.
Right now I have to go Insert-AutoFormat-Header &
Footer-Filename and Path. Can this process be automated.

I tried creating a template document, attached a footer
with the physical path works fine. When I try to create a
new document using that template, it does add the footer
automatically but does not add the full path.(Just adds
the file name - First.doc and not C:\My
Documents\First.doc)

Thnx

Yes: it is easy peasy. But what Suzanne is warning you against is doing this
to normal.dot (the standard global template that creates a blank document
everytime you open Word).

The reason is that it has some undesirable affects such as making labels out
of alignment. If you want to add the path/filename at the bottom of
documents, you should create your own 'blank' template and add the field in
the footer. Normal.dot is best left 'normal'.
