suggesting that tables should be confined within the margins of a document?
Well, normally they are, and there is a Compatibility Option that you can
set to ensure this. Perhaps you'd like to explain better what you're asking
for.

And if you want to limit the table to the page vertically as well as
horizontally, you could put it in a text box that's as big as the page.
