Default Own template vs. MS Word´s Edit picture-function

Hi all!

I´m working on some user manuals for different products and there´s
one thing that really bugs me.
I´ve made my own template which I use for the documents, but everytime
I open an image in MS Word´s "Edit picture"-function my template is
removed and I have to "connect" to it again. I´m adding text boxes to
some images and need to use the styles ifrom my template.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I´m using Word 2000.

Kind regards,
Anders

What do you mean when you say your template is "removed?"

What do you have to do to reconnect?

Which version of Word are you using?

Default Own template vs. MS Word´s Edit picture-function

Hi Mr. Kenyon!

Thanks for answering!

What I mean is that when I use "Edit picture" on an image that is in
my document created from my own template, the styles from MS Word´s
normal.dot is there and choosable. But I have to re-attach my own
template to make the styles available, and I have to do it every time I
want to edit a picture and add text-boxes to it.

I use MS Word 2000.

I hope I get the teminology right. English is not my native language.

Kind regards,
Anders

To clarify it even mo

When i use Edit Picture, I have to go to Tools- Templates and Add ins,
and look up my template and attach it. And I have to do it for every
picture I want to edit in the document.

To clarify, attaching a template in Word does not mean adding it to the list
of Add-Ins. It should not appear (checked or unchecked) in the list of
Add-Ins.

First, Word is a very poor picture editor. If possible, do your editing in a
program designed to edit graphics, then import into Word. I'm afraid I never
use the Edit Picture command so will be of little help with it. There is a
separate newsgroup on word.drawing.graphics that you might want to post this
in.

However, is your template attached before you use this command? What happens
if you use it and then close the function without making any changes?

Default Own template vs. MS Word´s Edit picture-function

The documents i create are based on the template I made for the
company. So "out" in the actual document all my styles are available.
It´s only when open a picture in "Edit picture" that they are gone and
I have to attach my template again.

When I attach my template in the "Edit picture"-function I go to
Tools- Templates and add ins. In the "Document template"-field it says
"Normal" and in the "Checked items are currently loaded"-field my
template is listed but unchecked.

If I open the picture with "Edit picture" and then close it without
making any changes no changes are done to my document. The template and
all my styles are still there. (Not sure if that´s what you meant.)

Thanks again for answering.
I will absolutely take your advice about using some other application
for editing images under consideration.

Best regards,
Anders

It sounds like the Edit Picture mode is an applet of some sort. Sorry I
can't be of more help here.

Just to let anywho know. I got my boss to give me an upgrade to Office
2003 and the problem is gone. (Well not really gone but Office 2003´s
Edit Picture-function works in another way so the picture doesn´t open
in "that other" window.)

So far, all is well...
