Searching Word Document Content Advise
I have a folder saved in my Documents containing many similar word documents.
Is it possible locate a certain document within this folder by searching for text content? For example: If I wanted to search the folder to locate all the documents contain an individuals name or address text or even an account number....is there any way to do this. Sortof like Find and replace only without opening any document within the folder. Could it be done by using programming? |

Use the Search feature and search for specific words. It should list all of
the documents without opening any of the documents. "Dermot" wrote: I have a folder saved in my Documents containing many similar word documents. As well as the Search function under Windows Explorer previously mentioned,
you may wish to look into a Desktop Search engine. In the past I have used GoogleDesktop, and am currently using Copernic. These work by creating an index of the folders/drive that you setup to be searched (the initial index creation can take some time depending on the size of data) and are then automatically updated. Typing in your search text, instantly returns the files that hold that text. Google can be listed by relevance, I now use Copernic due to corporate restrictions, also can show a preview with the search text in context. There are many such engines but I have found that these two are easily "configurable" to requirements. One tip - if not required - don't search your emails, saved much time and heartache. Hope this helps DeanH "Dermot" wrote: I have a folder saved in my Documents containing many similar word documents.
