17th Street is both "th" regular text and "th" superscript in a document.
How to get it consistent, either way in a document.

Default URGENT - Find Replace for 17th to a 17th superscript

Add the autoformat command from the all commands group to the QAT (Quick
Access Toolbar) then run that command. From the options set only the
Ordinals with Superscript and run the autoformat.

Default URGENT - Find Replace for 17th to a 17th superscript

Hi,,

You can create a new style (style 1) to normal superscript. Using find and
replace find "th " and in replace with enter the text "th " and select FOrmat
(in find and replace window) - Style and search for the style you created.
(style1).

Then you can do a manual find replace or replace all.

Similarly use "th " of style 1 in find to replace to "th" normal.

Please make sure you dont replace th that are part of another word like in THe

Hope i am clear and hope i am right..
SOme one else please advice..

Also is there a way to do a find for 17th and replace with 17th superscript.
Would I make a style to include 17?

Default URGENT - Find Replace for 17th to a 17th superscript

Janet, you don't need a style.
For the existing occurances of 17th you can use Find/Replace to do the whole
document.
Firstly create a 17th with the ordinal as superscript, then Ctrl+C to copy
to the clipboard.
Open Find/Replace, in the Find what: type 17th, in the Replace with: type
^c. ^c is the code for the contents of the clipboard. Replace all. All
occurances of 17th will be changed.

For future occurances of 17th (and any other ordinals), as previously
described turn on the Autocorrect for the Ordinals to be formatted as
superscript.

Hope this helps
DeanH

You do not ve to include 17 in the style. the style will be nothing but any
thing u type and if that style s applied. It would be converted to
superscript. Be it th or st or nd etc. Type only "th " in Find: and replace
with "th" of style superscript (the one u would ve created. Then hit replace
all.

This worked for me.
Anytime u work remember to create a back up before u try anything new.

Or you can try what Dean or Graham have suggested. That too sounds simple.
thanks

the "th" superscript :-)

Hi deanH,

THis case exists with any find and replace. whether or not with styles.
Thats teh reason i mentioned "th ". did u notice the intentional space. In
this case since they are ordinals, its most probable there ll be a space
following the "th" .. Hope this would take care.

From my previous posts. Pls note.

But it could equally well be followed by a comma or other punctuation. As
Graham said, by far the easiest solution is to use AutoFormat (not
AutoFormat As You Type, but AutoFormat Now).

You can create a new style (style 1) to normal superscript. Using
find and
replace find "th " and in replace with enter the text "th " and
select FOrmat
(in find and replace window) - Style and search for the style you
created.
(style1).

Then you can do a manual find replace or replace all.

Similarly use "th " of style 1 in find to replace to "th" normal.

Please make sure you dont replace th that are part of another word
like in THe

Hope i am clear and hope i am right..
SOme one else please advice..

Default URGENT - Find Replace for 17th to a 17th superscript

But it could equally well be followed by a comma or other punctuation. As
Graham said, by far the easiest solution is to use AutoFormat (not
AutoFormat As You Type, but AutoFormat Now).

Hi deanH,

THis case exists with any find and replace. whether or not with styles.
Thats teh reason i mentioned "th ". did u notice the intentional space. In
this case since they are ordinals, its most probable there ll be a space
following the "th" .. Hope this would take care.

From my previous posts. Pls note.
Type only "th " in Find:

Please make sure you dont replace th that are part of another word like
in
THe

Yahoo, Replace All! I don't think Janet would want "the" or "sabbath"
with
the "th" superscript :-)

You do not ve to include 17 in the style. the style will be nothing but
any
thing u type and if that style s applied. It would be converted to
superscript. Be it th or st or nd etc. Type only "th " in Find: and
replace
with "th" of style superscript (the one u would ve created. Then hit
replace
all.

This worked for me.
Anytime u work remember to create a back up before u try anything new.

Or you can try what Dean or Graham have suggested. That too sounds
simple.
thanks

Also is there a way to do a find for 17th and replace with 17th

Default URGENT - Find Replace for 17th to a 17th superscript

If it's only 17th (and not 18th, 3rd, etc.), the easiest and most direct way
to get it consistent is:

1. Press Ctrl+H.

2. In Find what:, type th. Press Ctrl+Shift+= (on top row). This should add
Format: Superscript under the th. This tells Word to search only for
superscripted "th".

3. In Replace with:, type th. Press Ctrl+Shift+= until Format: says "Not
superscript/Subscript".

4. Click Replace All.
