Word keeps removing my numbering
I work with many documents which are 50+ pages that include automatic
numbering and use Headers 1-4. On many occasions I have opened the document to edit and the numbering has disappeared. I have to go through to each level and at the header, select it, go to the top menu bar where it says "Header x" hit enter and the numbering will start there (starts over though and won't pick up if there is even one previous header number). Thus for example if Header 1 is "5" and everything past "5" is gone (in terms of numbering) I will go to level 2 which has Header 2 and it hit enter and 1.1 appears. I waste a lot of time renumbering long documents. Why does it do this and more importantly is there a way to do a quick fix instead of manually updating ? Thank you in advance!!! |
