Default Compatibility Mode

Why is compatibilty mode coming up in the document title line? It is a new
version of Office 2007. Is compatibility mode an automatic? I want Word to
show all the bells and whistles but in compatibility mode - it won't.

Default Compatibility Mode

If you open a document from an earlier version -- one that ends
with .doc -- then Word2007 opens in Compatibility Mode.

If Word2007 is opening in Compatibility Mode when no document opens,
there must be an option somewhere to change that, but I can't find it!

That's exactly what is happening. No Normal.dotx or m, no other lower
version of word is opening. It's opening every blank document in
Compatability Mode.

We have to find this function. It must have been something that was done
when it was installed.

Does anyone know?

That was the first place I went - and it is already saved as Word Document
(docx). I also converted the Normal.doc into a Normal.docm my saving as.
When I open the Normal.docm, it opens without compability mode. But when I
create a new file based on a blank document, it opens it in compatability
mode.

IT recently installed 2007 on another computer, and it has the original 15 k
Normal.docm. Nothing has been modified or changed in it's settings and it
still comes up with compatibility mode.

Any more suggestions?

In options save, there is the option "Save files in this format". Change
the setting to Word Document (*.docx)
