Mass mail with OE 6
Working with Word 2003, Windows XP Home, OE 6 and IE 7. OE and IE are
configured to be the default client. In 2006 I tried to sent a letter in Word merge e-mail. Every time I found the mail in Outlook which asked to be the default client! Now, I tried it again with the same results. Outlook asked again to be€¦..etc€¦, answer was NO and mail was sent away! Never ever used Outlook! I did uninstall Outlook and there was no possibility to choose e-mail! System 1 day back, Outlook icon appeared agian and I can choose e-mail! This time I get a message such as: €ścannt work it out, install Outlook€ť. I there a possibility to sent mass mail with OE 6 without installing Outlook? http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0002.htm I see in Windows Messaging Subsystem a subkey called MSMapiApps and MAPI=1; CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll; CMCDLLNAME=mapi.dll; CMC=1; MAPIX=1; MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1; OLEMessaging=1 and also InstallCmd=rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection MSMAIL 132 msmail.inf What is still missing so it will work with OE? Note: Iam a starter. Thanks in advance, Pierewiet |

First, try renaming the file MSMAIL32.DLL to, e.g. MSMAIL32.ZZZ
On an English-language system, this file will probably be in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 if it exists on your system at all. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Pierewiet" wrote in message ... If you are mailmerging to email, you have to choose one of three formats:
a. plain text b. HTML c. attachment. (a) and (c) should work with Outlook Express, but (b) will not. HTML has something to do with webpages isn't it? Yes, but it can also be used to make "rich" e-mails. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Pierewiet" wrote in message ... I write a letter in Word an insert this letter in OE. Mass mail with OE 6
OK, I have now been able to start with a clean system that does not contain
the full Outlook - The system consists of Win XP Pro SP2, with IE6 (not the same as yours) and OE6. I installed Word 2003. I had to install those Messaging Subsystem registry entries, but could then merge to email to OE without problems (except for a security message). So there must be a configuration issue, probably to do with MAPI. I suggest you try the instructions in the following article (even though it does not describe the specific problem you are experiencing): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299499/en-us -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Pierewiet" wrote in message ... Personally, I would rename all the MAPI32.dll files, run fixmapi, see which
folder a new mapi32.dll appeared in, and see if your system then works. Then I'd probably just make a note to myself that I renamed the other ones. But you could rename the other ones and see if your system /still/ works. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Pierewiet" wrote in message ... Thanks for the advice. OK, let's go back to the idea of making a few comparisons.
On my test system I have the following mapi dlls - you can find the properties by right-clicking on the file name in Windows explorer. c:\windows\system32\mapi32.dll File version: 1.0.2536 (XPClient.010817-1148) Product version 5.1.2600.0 The file size is 109KB (112,128 bytes) The Modified date is 04 August 2004, 13:00:00 c:\windows\system32\mapistub.dll seems to be the same file with a different name These are both English-language .dlls and it looks as if you have the Dutch-language ones which may be different, but it is worth comparing anyway. I did sent a msg to 3 accounts but received no msg's! 50 minutes later i did sent via webmail the same msg to the 3 accounts and 1 minute after i received the msg from webmail the "old" msg's! Accidental? I think this is probably because of normal e-mail delays. Rename InstallCmd2 in InstallCmd again? If you want. I do not think it will make any difference now. but how difficult would it be for you to reinstall Windows XP? you could try going into Office setup and go through the process of removing Outlook again Never did this! Have to ask my (outdoor) son. You didn't install Office without Outlook on your system, just removed it as i did? Because of your original question about not being able to merge to Outlook Express, I started with Windows XP + IE + OE + Word, and no other part of Office. Even if I install the whole of Office now, then uninstall it, it is very unlikely that I will repeat exactly what has happened on your system. However, that might be the next thing to try here too. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Pierewiet" wrote in message ... Changed InstallCmd in InstallCmd2. OE is running normal.
