Word 2003 "save as" issue
I have a large Word file (converted from a .pdf by a conversion software
program). When I make changes to the file, then "save as" the new document shows up as just a few KB (if I view details) and in the General tab of Properties, it shows the original filename (instead of what it was renamed to). I can open the new document and it appears to be as it should, but apparently it is just a link to the original, and the original gets overwritten with any changes even though I did a "save as" versus just "save". |

It sounds as though you have inserted a linked object. Press ALT+F9 and see
if it changes to a field code. If it does, then select the field and press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 to fix the content in the document. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org BrandyZ wrote: I have a large Word file (converted from a .pdf by a conversion software program). It didn't show the field codes when I did that. I'm stumped. Thanks though.

Just discovered the exact same problem. No idea. It's a very
destructive situation. -mjm BrandyZ wrote: I have a large Word file (converted from a .pdf by a conversion software program).
