Vista & Word2003 & Normal template
I'm running Word 2003 on Vista Business. I tryed to save word customisation
such a font, styles, toolbars and etc, but it was imposiblle. No change was saved. I founded the new path for normal.dot - but there was normal.dotm instead of normal.dot -- but I have Word 2003 not Word 2007. I cannot open or edit normal.dotm and cannot create or save normal.dot. When I tryed to save a word document with styles like a template I got message something like: Word cannot save a documents with the same name like open documents. If I search for normal.dot there a no results. I can just find normal.dotm. What s happened? What to do, please help. |

Well what you say you have is impossible. So I would guess that as you have
Vista Business, you have a new computer and it must have come with a trial version of Office 2007 pre-installed. -- Terry Farrell - MS Word MVP "Cordelia" wrote in message ... Vista & Word2003 & Normal template
Thanks Terry,
yes, that is true. But, that is trial version, and I have licence for Office 2003, so I have installed my old version. And what now? In the mean time I renamed normal.dotm to normal.old and replace to other folder. When I started the Word, nothing happened. Still somewhere exist some kind of normal template, but where, I do not know. I searched for any file with name normal and I founded onyl normal.old, nothing elese. Word didnot create some new normal.dot or dotm. Please, any help would be nice. Regards, Cordelia "Terry Farrell" wrote: Well what you say you have is impossible. Vista & Word2003 & Normal template
In 2003, normal.dot is not created until you make a change in Word that
requires normal.dot. So open Word2003, go to Tools, Options, Save tab and make sure that the prompt to save changes to normal (global) template is checked. Then use Format, Font, change a font value and press DEFAULT. Now close Word and you should be prompted to save normal (global) template. Outlook must be closed when you do this. One more thing, make sure that you have checked the option to view hidden
and system files, or you won't find normal.dot. Terry "Cordelia" wrote in message ... Thanks Terry, yes, that is true. Vista & Word2003 & Normal template
Hi,
I have done it all (again) but no help. Allway is the same, there are no changes. I cannot find normal.dot. I can see all hidden and systems files. It shoud be on: C:\\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates but it is not. Neither is somewhere else. Or I cannot find it. Vista & Word2003 & Normal template
No, I do not have Word 2007 anymore. But, I reinstalled Office 2003 and
installed it again. And now everything works. I have normal.dot and I can make changes. Thanks a lot. Probablly, there were some mistakes during uninstalation of Office 2007. But, now is ok. Regards and thx. Cordelia "Terry Farrell" wrote: Does Word 2007 open and work? Terry "Cordelia" wrote in message ... Hi, I have done it all (again) but no help.
