I also have the same problem. I have a master document to be mail merged
that needs to be protected so contents are not changed inadevertently by the user. However, the "Protect Document" option disables the toolbar in all sections, even if I add a section that does not require protection. When I protect the form, the Mail Merge options no longer are available. Is there a solution? Depends. Can you go into more detail about the purpose of this document: what the form is for, and the mail merge? Also, which version of Word?
