Default Custom page numbering

Hi Folks;

I have a document that requires a rather specific page numbering and I have
no idea how to do it. You see, I have a letter, followed by the title page of
the document, TOC, an abstract, introduction and body of the document. The
letter and title page are not to be numbered, the TOC and abstract are to be
numbered i and ii respectively and the introduction and body are to be
numbered 1..12. How in the world do I number the pages like this?

Wherever you want to have different numbering, you will have to insert a Next
Page Section Break. Once you have done that, click on View | Header and
Footer and once you have done that, click on Same as Previous on the toolbar
to unlink the footer from the previous one. You can then insert any type of
page numbering in the footer that you like.

I hope this has been helpful to you.

Note that if the only difference between footers is the page number
format, not placement of numbers and/or other contents, you don't have
to unlink footers.
