Default Office 2003 opening shared files from a computer with office 97.

I can't seem to open shared files from other computers that use Office 97..
Neither Word or Excel files open.. The Powerpoint files open fine. If I drag
and copy the files to my new computer that has 2003 they open as well. When I
just try to open them from the other computer I get file path error messages
and the file doesn't open.. Any Help??

Hi ?B?Um9iZXJ0?=,

and the file doesn't open..

Without the exact error messages, we can't even begin to guess what the problem
might be.
