Default Automatically adding a character in a form field

How can I have a form field automatically add an asterisk before and after
the numeric data entered by the user? I do not want the asterisks to appear
if no data is entered.

Either side of the number form field enter the following conditional field
structure (where Text1 is the name of the form field in question)
{ IF { REF Text1 } 0 "*" }
Check the calculate on exit property of the field.
The calculation assumes there are no negative numbers.
