Default How do I stop extra indentation after Number 10 on lists?

When using auto-numbering in MS Word and reaching the number 10 on a list,
the space after the number 10 (and all following numbers) increases from one
space to a tab-like space. How can I defeat this automatic (and annoying)
spacing?
