Default I see no script fonts in my WORD 2003

According to Suzanne S. Barnhill, Microsoft MVP, Word2003 comes with a number
of "handwriting" fonts, including Blackadder, Bradley Hand, Brush Script,
Edwardian Script, Freestyle Script, French Script, Kunstler Script, Lucida
Calligraphy, Lucida Handwriting, Mistral, Monotype Corsiva, Palace Script,
Rage Italic, Script MT Bold, Viner Hand,
and Vladimir Script.

I can't see them on my WORD font list. How do I access them?

See "installing fonts".

You should be able to recognize some of these names. Do they appear in your
other applications? Perhaps the fonts aren't installed on your machine.

WORD 2003 was installed on my new PC by Dell. Dell support said they cold
not verify which fonts I was supposed to get with that version. These fonts
do not appear in other applications either.

Hi Babso-

Do you mean you can't see the font names in their actual script appearance,
or that the names of those fonts don't show up in the list at all?

If the names are there, go to ToolsCustomizeOptions and put a check in the
box to 'List font names in their font'.

If the names are not in the list at all they will need to be installed to
your system's Fonts folder as Anne described.

Good Luck |:)

Thanks for the reply CyberTaz...No the names do not appear on my list. So
your advice is: If the names are not in the list at all they will need to be
installed to
your system's Fonts folder as Anne described.

My question is, installed from where??? The Dell box came preloaded with
the WORD 2003 software. Did they leave some stuff out? I have Dell GOLD
support and they could not tell me which fonts I am supposed to have. All
they offered me was a re-download of WORD 2003 and I would have to reinstall
it my self. And even then I don't know if the handwriting fonts would be
there.

Go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs, select Microsoft Office
Professional Edition 2003, and click on Change. Choose Add or Remove
Features and check the box for a custom install. In the list of features,
Fonts is under Office Shared Features. Make sure that Fonts (including
Additional True Type Fonts) is set to Run from My Computer. Then OK out. You
may be asked to insert the Office CD at some point (but possibly not, as the
install files may have been copied to your HD).
