Default Help - 'dialog box' problem in Word

I have loaded Microsoft Office Word 2003 and all seems OK, but
I am having the following problem.

When I click on a .DOC file, Word opens partially and says the
following --

"The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open.
Click OK, and then close dialog boxes to continue.

[OK] "

As I click on OK, Word opens the Doc file and I can continue.
Question - How do I get rid of this annoying problem of 'dialog box' ?
Help is appreciated.

Yes I do have Norton running in the background.
Your suggestions worked very well. Just went through the
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891986/en-us web page
and renamed the OfficeAV.dll file as OfficeAV.old file.
That got rid of the dialog box problem. Wow !
Thank you so much. Appreciate your help.
