Default Mail Merge .DOT filename problem

Because of the recent update by MS Word, you can only use the tick box which
comes on the Forms Toolbar. I have protected parts of the document that use
these tick boxes so that the users do not have to click on the Pad Lock
(Unlock/lock the form) to write in the relevant sections they need to fill in

However, because the form is protected (parts of it) and the padlock is on,
it wont merge the data as it says "The document is protected, please re-merge
the data etc".

How can i stop this from coming up? Ive solved this issue with .RTF files,
but now having difficulty with .DOT filenames

Please Help!

Warm Regards

Can you please tell us
a. which version of Word you're using
b. what you were using before you changed your tick box to use the box on
the forms toolbar?
c. what goes wrong as a consequence of the Word update?

Default Mail Merge .DOT filename problem

Hi

thanks for picking up my query

a) were now using MS Word 2003 Service pack 2, we were using MS 2000 before
that
b) I was using the checkbox from the control toolbox toolbar
c) The mail merged information will not merge because the form is locked. I
have to protect the whole document as it is the only way to suuport the
sections which are proteced.

In .RTF files, although you have locked the form, it still merges the
information into the sections you have left unproteced

I hope this clarifies

Regards

I had a brief look at this but there are still too many unknowns for me to
make progress. Can you either say a bit more about your document's
structure - what sections, what used to be protected in Word 2000, etc.Or if
you want, send me a copy of the Word 2000 document (perhaps simplified so it
has a very simple data source that I can easily create here) with info.
about what is protected etc.

I do remember that there have been problems in this area but cannot remember
the specifics.
