Macros are not saved when closing Word.
I am having a problem when recording macros, in that they are not saved when
I close out of Word. When reopening Word, the macros are not there. Even our computer guy can't figure it out. Hope someone can help.. |

Macros are not saved when closing Word.
When you create a macro, that macro is stored in a template. If you did not
do anything to select a template when creating the macro, the macro is most likely stored in your Normal.dot (in the "Record Macro" dialog box, you should always pay attention to the "Store macro in" setting - this sets the customization context, i.e. determines where the macro will be stored). If the macro is stored in Normal.dot, Normal.dot must be saved in order for the macro to remain. Normally, a save will be carried out (with or without your knowledge) when exiting Word. Since the macro is gone when you restart Word, something prevents Word from saving Normal.dot even if it has been changed. Do you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed? This could prevent Normal.dot from being saved even if you made changes to it. See: http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm Otherwise, you may have another add-in that prevents the template from being saved or you may have another macro in your Normal.dot that tells Normal.dot that is has already been saved. You could try this: 1. Record a macro. 2. Then save Normal.dot at once: press and hold the Shift key while you select File Save All. If a dialog box opens, asking whether to save changes to Normal.dot, click Yes. 3. Try to exit and restart Word and check whether the macro is present. If the macro is there now, you need to find out what prevents Normal.dot from being saved. To check whether add-ins are installed, see: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...sInstalled.htm -- Regards Lene Fredborg DocTools - Denmark www.thedoctools.com Document automation - add-ins, macros and templates for Microsoft Word "maryal521" wrote: I am having a problem when recording macros, in that they are not saved when I close out of Word. Macros are not saved when closing Word.
When you save a macro there is a dropdown list "Store macro in" . select all
documents (normal.dot) if you want that macro to be available for all documents. Also remember when you want to run a macro using its dialog box again there is a dropdown list that you must select an item that is the correct location of your macro something like " All active templates and documents" which is the default for the dropdown list. -- Best regards, Harvey "maryal521" wrote: I am having a problem when recording macros, in that they are not saved when I close out of Word.
