Default Word not sorting list in alpha order

I have a list of names that I have sorted over and over again, trying to get
the entire list to sort in alpha order. I made sure the font and font size
were the same for all the entries. Nothing seems to work to get the list in
order. For example:

og1
sp
zi
lg
pb
me
wo
Og2

This is just one section that did not sort correctly despite multiple
attempts. I have no idea what to do to make the sort work. There is only 1
field (a paragraph) with a paragraph separator. There are parts of the list
that do sort although words with the same initial letter are also found
elsewhere.

HELP!!!!!

You may have nothing to sort. See:

Thanks for the tip, Greg, it was very helpful. I did a reveal codes and saw
that indeed, the lines in question had line breaks, not paragraphs! I
appreciate your help very much. Thanks again, Greg.
